A Weekday in Mom's Life

A series of collages remembers a typical weekday in the life of my late mom. Scenes of morning errands on Myrtle Avenue in Queens, NY, afternoon meal preparations, and evening crafts on the living room couch allude to the way she combined household work and respite as a Polish-American homemaker: groceries and flowers, meal prep and dessert coffee, and finally, handiwork and dubbed soap operas. My collage principles are inspired by visual motifs found in traditional folk art paper cuts, specifically from the Łowicz region of Poland.

Materials & Techniques: Collaged papers, acrylic paint
